Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Applied Science and Advanced Engineering (JASAE) is committed to upholding academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publication. All manuscripts submitted to JASAE must be original works of the author(s), must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using a similarity detection tool, such as Turnitin, as part of the editorial screening process. JASAE reserves the right to immediately reject any manuscript that indicates plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct.

Plagiarism occurs when an author uses ideas, information, data, words, figures, tables, or other materials from another source without proper acknowledgment. Whether intentional or unintentional, plagiarism is considered a serious academic violation and is unacceptable in international scholarly publishing.

Authors are required to provide proper citations whenever they use specific information obtained from a particular source, including names, dates, places, statistical data, technical information, or other detailed facts. Citation may not be required only for information that is widely accepted as common knowledge and can be verified from many general sources.

Authors must also cite the original source when using, adapting, or developing ideas from another author. This includes ideas related to data interpretation, research methodology, theoretical perspectives, field developments, or conclusions. Even when authors expand or modify an idea, the original source of that idea must still be properly acknowledged.

When authors use exact words from another source, proper citation and quotation marks are required. If four or more consecutive words are identical to a source, quotation marks must be used to clearly indicate that the wording belongs to another author. In such cases, citation alone is not sufficient.

JASAE also considers self-plagiarism a form of publication misconduct. Authors must not reuse substantial parts of their own previously published work without appropriate citation, disclosure, and justification. Manuscripts that substantially overlap with the authors’ earlier publications may be rejected.

The editorial decision is not based solely on the similarity percentage, but also on the nature, source, and location of the similarity. Similarity found in references, standard terminology, methodological descriptions, institutional names, or commonly used technical expressions may be treated differently from similarity found in the main text, results, discussion, or conclusions.

If plagiarism or other unethical publication practice is detected before publication, the manuscript may be rejected or withdrawn from the review process. If plagiarism is identified after publication, JASAE reserves the right to take appropriate action, including issuing a correction, publishing an expression of concern, retracting the article, notifying the authors’ institution, or applying other measures in accordance with publication ethics standards.

By submitting a manuscript to JASAE, authors confirm that the work is original, ethically prepared, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. For further information, authors may contact the editorial office at editorialteam@jasae.org.
